Interdigital dermatitis

Digital dermatitis is one of the main causes for lameness of cows. It begins with wet and smelly rot of skin surfaces. The skin of the digits in the heel area and the interdigital space are affected by the infection. The interdigital dermatitis leads to numerous hoof deformations and abnormal hoof placement. Infection might be prevented by installing hoof disinfection baths, observing animal hygiene requirements and timely as well as quality hoof trimming.
